If you have a game or application that you can't get to work because you aren't sure what ports should be forwarded, post the details here and my team of highly skilled researchers will see if they can find the answer, we will do our best in all cases and where information is found for a new title we'll also make sure it gets added to the web site so that everyone can share the information.

If anyone has a manual for Star Trek Legacy i'd be glad to hear from you.

Re. Soulseek

It appears that we don't have the information for that title, if anyone has it or knows of a legitimate source for the port information i would be glad to hear from you. I'll do some investigation for you and see what i can find. Smiley

Quote:
Could you try the ports listed at: Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login please. I'm not totally sure if this is a port range or two single ports, so what i would like you to do is to try opening the ports individually, ie. port 2234 and port 2239 and also try it as a port range as listed on the link above. I would appreciate it if you could let us know the results please.

If your router doesn't forward or allow access thru the default Soulseek port(s) 2234-2239 to the box your Soulseek client is running on, you will not be able to transfer to many of the users on Soulseek. If both you and the other user have misconfigured routers, then you will not be able to transfer to or from them at all. Browsing will inevitably fail, transfers will die with "Connection failed" errors, and you will experience other difficulties.

With remote misconfigured routers, other users should be able to download from you. However, you may not be able to download from them without waiting a bit longer for connections to start and they may just timeout completely if you are unlucky or their configuration is really fascist. If they timeout, just try again.
If your router isn't configured, only outgoing (not direct) connections work. Meaning that you may experience a lag while direct connections timeout and non-direct connections start.

Take time to read this information belove it may help you configure ports properly and remove some unusefull problems Smiley)

PS: please let us know if problem are solved.

By my information Developer is Third-I Prod and Publisher is Hasbro Interactive. No information what atari own that game.
Other things that no information at all about ports for game, can be what game dont use ports why its 1998 release. But for make sure its dont have them contact game developers.

Hi and welcome to our forums Smiley

I have looked around for port information for the game but i'm afraid i haven't been able to come up with much, perhaps someone else might have more information, if so please post here. I haven't been able to find a list of ports for the game, but it is possible that it doesn't require any ports other than port 80 for HTTP protocol but i'm not totally sure on that one, What i would suggest is filling out a support form and asking the game developers themselves as they will be able to answer your question for sure, the link to the help desk is Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login, hopfully that will get you the answer you need. I did see a lot of problems reported on the developers forums about anti-spyware programs preventing connection so i think its more likely to be related to that than ports, but a quick question to the developers should answer that for you. I hope you manage to get the problem fixed and if you come up with any information you think should be included in our port listings please let us know Smiley

Alright, I sent them a request.  I'm 100% positive it's not the anti-spyware and firewalls, though.  I've tried turning them off, allowing exceptions, the whole bundle.  I sent OGPlanet a request to see what ports the game uses, I'll let you guys know the results! Smiley

Yay, got it!

Rumble Fighter uses port 7000 to 8500.  Go ahead and add that to the database, I guess!

I'm trying to find port information for Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login Manalink. I found the ports online about a year ago, but this time around I haven't had any luck finding them.

I was hoping maybe you guys would have better luck. If ports for this title can't be found is it possible it uses the same ports as other MicroProse games? I haven't tried that yet.

Hi,

TCP and UDP are two different protocols and behave in different ways, TCP protocol allows for error checking, so that any information transmitted through a TCP port is checked by the recipient machine usually in chucks of data, the result is that TCP is a very reliable means of transferring data, the problem comes along when you have a game or application that requires maximum bandwidth usage and all the error checks start to slow the connection down, for a lot of online games and applications the UDP port is used to transfer data, the difference with UDP is that it doesn't contain as much error checking and correction overheads, instead it transfers data with much less error checking which results in a performance increase, assuming that the connection is very reliable and there is minimal loss.

You should always use the protocols that are listed and if in doubt just confirm the protocols with your user manual or manufacturers web site, the reason for this is that if a game or application requires a TCP port and you were to open TCP and UDP there would potentially be an open UDP port which could in theory be used for something malicious, that's fairly unlikely but could happen, so in a case like that i would opt for openeing the TCP port if that's all that is required by the game or application.
